37 Week OB Appointment

There's a little bit more than usual to report on this week! My weight is holding steady (actually down a little but this can apparently be common during the last month) and my blood pressure was great. I am still measuring two weeks behind. My Group B Strep test came back positive which just means that I'll be given antibiotics every four hours during labor. The risk is that the bacteria will be passed to the baby during delivery but it's very uncommon that it actually gets passed especially when treated. My blood work from last week showed that my iron levels were good but my platelet count is low. They took more blood at this appointment to check again. I had a low platelet count reading with Adeline one time as well and after having more blood work done, everything came back normal. Again though, this is not a very concerning issue since I will not be getting an epidural anyway. I did not have an epidural with Adeline and will go without it this time as well. Apparently, to get an epidural your platelet count has to be 100 or higher. The exciting news is that I was 2cm dilated! Of course, this doesn't guarantee anything. I could stay that way for the next 3 weeks! I have made it to full-term though as yesterday was 37 weeks so bring on the walking!

That's Enough!

Last night, Adeline was "getting" her daddy and every time he would turn on her and start tickling her. She would laugh and laugh, and then all of a sudden tell him, "that's enough!!" She's never said that before so it was a hoot to hear her even using it properly! You just never know what she's going to come up with next!

Frog Rain Boots

These adorable rain boots were given to Adeline for her birthday by Morgan and Joey! Adeline came around the corner this morning sporting her new boots while still in her pajamas with bedhead! I, of course, could not let this go without some pictures and thought they were too funny to not share!

Adeline's Birthday Party

We had a wonderful evening on Saturday celebrating Adeline's birthday with our sweet family and friends! We certainly missed Todd, Valori, Natalie and Emma as they were down in Florida where Todd will be working for a few more weeks and Kristen who is finishing up her last semester at GA Southern. Our initial plan was to go to Stone Mountain for the day, have a picnic dinner and watch the laser show, but with strong thunderstorms in the weather forecast we had to come up with Plan B. We had dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Newnan, Fiesta Grill. They were so kind to set up their extra room for us and did an awesome job taking orders, getting food out, and keeping things moving!

For this huge party of about 25 people the food came out in less than 20 minutes, and all the orders were correct!

One of the managers there, Jose, offered to give Jared some advice on how to fit all these people into our house. As he said, "We are good at that kind of thing."

The servers came out singing and had dessert for Adeline and a Sombrero which she would not keep on her head!

After dinner, everyone came back to our house for gift opening and dessert! We had no shortage of desserts! My mom made three kinds of brownies, I made a double recipe of Cherries in the Snow, and Adeline had her own little cake. I hope no one left hungry! Adeline's going to have so much fun with all of her new stuff! She got a tricycle, vacuum cleaner, gardening tools, books, bubble lawn mower, play ice cream cone set, a personalized pillow, an alphabet toy, blocks and some adorable clothes. Thank you everyone!

We're going to have to get a helmet!

Adeline was very patient and attentive while opening her gifts!

She blew out her candle all on her own, first try!

Adeline had so much fun with everyone here! We are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!

She's worn out after a night of partying!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Adeline!

Where has the time gone?! I can't believe our baby girl is two! When asked how old she is, she'll tell you "two yeaws owd!" while holding up a different number of fingers every time! Her birthday started with her coming into our room at 6:02am to wake us out of our sleep. She has gotten up between 7:00 and 8:00 since she was born, up until the morning of her second birthday! After a little while, I walked her through the living room over to her bathroom to go potty. The night before I had left her wrapped gifts in the middle of the living room floor so when she saw them she got VERY excited. A minute later Jared and I were in our bathroom brushing our teeth when we heard the ripping sound of her opening her first present. Needless to say, we came straight out, and all her gifts were opened before we even had breakfast! She got her first purse, a ring toss, a bowling set, the Memory card game, and a water sprinkler. She had so much fun playing with her new toys all morning! She also got a surprise visit and some Little People toys from Aunt Valori, Natalie and Emma as they were headed out to visit Todd in Florida!

After lunch, we suited Adeline up and went out to play in the sprinkler! It took a few minutes for her to warm up to the idea, but she had a blast or as she says, "fun in water!" Grandmama (Ma) was coming to stay with her while Jared and I went to my doctor's appointment that afternoon, so she arrived early to see Adeline enjoying her sprinkler and get some play-time in before Adeline went down for a nap. Her visit from "Ma" was another exciting event in her day!

Unfortunately, that evening was not nearly as exciting for Adeline or us! I think the combination of waking up early and burning so much energy before her nap had her completely worn out! Nothing made her happy to say the least. We gave her a bath at 6:30 and had her in bed by 7:30. While we hated that her special day ended that way, we had so much fun earlier in the day and knew an early bedtime was best for her (and at that point, it was best for us too)! We love her more than words can say and are so thankful the Lord blessed us with such a precious gift!

36 Week OB Appointment

I had another "good report" appointment on Thursday and yes, we've made it to the point where appointments are happening weekly! Crazy! They did the Group B Strep Test this time and took a blood sample to check my iron levels. I'll get the results from both this week, but I expect my iron to be fine and hoping the Group B results are good. I've gone from measuring one and half weeks behind to two weeks behind. I had not dilated any which was a relief to us since I'm not quite full-term. Almost there though!

Adeline's Baby

When Adeline gets tired, hurt or upset, you can count on her wanting "baby." Her baby is a frog security blanket (a gift from Aunt Rachel and Uncle Nick, thanks!) that stays in the house for bedtime and a duck security blanket that lives in the car. She has been attached to her baby since she was only a few months old. It was even one of her first few words. The name came from her all of a sudden saying "my baby!" when lying in her bed one day. We had no idea what she was referring to at first other than the fact that we would refer to her as "my baby." It didn't take long to figure out what she was wanting:

Well, the other day she helped me put baby and blanket (her other security item) in the washer and then into the dryer. She got very upset about something while they were drying so she went up to the dryer and cried, "Dwy, Baby, dwy!!!" She has quite the sense of humor and always has us laughing, but this one makes it pretty high on the list!
